Rihanna Wears, Um, Something (PHOTOS)

Jet setter Rihanna has arrived at London’s Heathrow Airport after partying with Drake in NYC just last night , and she was clearly all about comfort on her transatlantic flight— unlike Gaga’s usual airplane attire . The “Loud” singer arrived in England wearing an extra long black skirt, a charcoal knit sweater and bustier contraption. The ensemble resembled the preferred clothing line of moms, Chico’s , but on an acid trip. That said, this outfit pales in comparison to her otherworldly ensemble from the ECHO awards from earlier this year. Tell us what you think.

How to Create an Indie Artist Profile on Apple’s Ping Network

When Apple launched it’s new Ping network with the new version of iTunes, a lot of independent musicians were frustrated that they couldn’t immediately set up an artist profile page on the network. So most of them just grumbled and sat back to wait for Tunecore or CD Baby to work out the details for them. But not Frank Colin of Gulture Enterprises . “I assist the legendary independent blues and rock musician Jimmy Z with his website and social media,” Frank writes on his blog. “As soon as I upgraded iTunes … it became my mission to get his profile on Ping …” That’s an understatement. Through persistence and some creative communications, Frank was able to set up a Ping profile by working directly with Apple. But it wasn’t easy. Frank chronicles how he did it, in great detail, in a great series of blog posts: First read ” How an Independent Musician Might Get a Profile on Ping .” Then read ” How to Create an Independent Musician Profile on iTunes Ping ” for even more of the nitty gritty.” Congrats to Frank for finding a way to get inside the machine and work the system! -Bob P.S. Today on Lanarama: Award Categories, Updated

The Juno Awards have recently added their 40th category: Electronic Album of the Year . While reading an article about the addition, I was not only shocked that it’s taken 40 years to include an electronic category, but also shocked that I hadn’t noticed! This sparked my curiosity regarding Juno award categories. Going through the Wikipedia page , it was interesting to see how categories evolved. Rock Album of the Year was known as ‘Best Hard Rock / Metal album’ back in 1991, and in 1995 we saw the launch of Best Alternative Album , very fitting for the time. There hasn’t been a Folk Category since 1982 , so I assume our folk artists have been falling under the umbrella of ‘Roots & Traditional’. Maybe the folk revival of the 2000’s will mean a name change to this category in the future? With musical styles crossing over more than ever, is alternative where all the misfits go? What category updates do you think would be fitting for today? What album do you think would be deserving of the first Electronic Album of the Year Juno in March? Either way, we’re sure he’ll finally smile knowing that you watched him get up close and personal with a brand new (and oh so lucky) co-star in his new video. That’s what real Beliebers do! Feigned interest. That’s what we see on these girls’ faces. Malarky! Get some real, absolutely insane fans in there!
