CMJ 2011: A Photo Retrospective, Part 3
CMJ 2011 was a music festival that ran in New York City from Oct. 18-22 to showcase new and emerging bands. Ology covered CMJ 2011 the best way we know, with must-see shows, artist spotlights and show reviews. We threw some jokes and quirkiness in there to mix things up for you. We had a great time during those five crazy days, and we thank you for joining us on the ride. For more CMJ coverage, click here.
CMJ wrecked me. It ravaged my body, tore apart my ears and disintegrated my soul. But it was fun. In spite of the fun, I struggled to finish my photo retrospective. Why? BECAUSE I TOOK SO MANY PICTURES. It was quite the ordeal. Without further ado, I present you with the end of my Friday night along with my Saturday. I hope you enjoyed Ology’s virginal coverage of CMJ, and we’ll see you at SXSW.

Dum Dum Girls! Dum Dum Girls! They’re so hot! OMFG! Bowery Ballroom following Crocodiles.

By this point I had gotten decent at the pseudoart style of capturing the true light in the room.

PLAY “COMING DOWN!” PLAY “COMING DOWN!” That’s what the guy behind me was screaming for the second half of the show. “Coming Down” was their one-song encore. F*ck him.

The bass player was the definition of Too Kool for Skool. She was incredible.

Jacuzzi Boys at Public Assembly on Saturday night. If you’re not down with Jacuzzi Boys, then you need to get down in a hurry.

Does anyone here like cheeeeeesssseeee???

This show was packed, and the front of the audience was full of moshing peeps, so it was tough to get good pics of everyone in the band. Instead, you get this.

Kid Cudi Goes On A Killing Spree In “Maniac” Short Film
Are you in need of a scare this Halloween? Kid Cudi has got you covered in his latest video for “Maniac”. The 10-minute short film, shot in black-and-white documentary-style, starts with a house blazing on fire on a quiet suburban street, the handiwork of Cudi and fellow MC Cage as French serial killers on the hunt. This is definitely an R-rated affair, so take heed of the warning about “viewer discretion” that begins the gory, disturbing video (which, by the way, was directed by actor Shia LeBeouf, who also helmed the Amsterdam-set video for “Marijuana”).
Kid Cudi — “Maniac”
In his last few videos, Cudi has played a vampire and a Kill Bill-type martial arts master who can punch and fight his way through a building filled with enemies. Now, after playing an unapologetic serial killer who even turns on his own camera crew, we’re left to assume that the rapper has no intention of having us root for him anymore. (At least not without feeling guilty about it.)

Kim Kardashian BLOCKS Spousal Support For Kris Humphries
Kris Humpries was reportedly shocked to learn that Kim Kardashian, his wife of 72 days, had filed for divorce.
“I love my wife and am devastated to learn she filed for divorce … I’m willing to do whatever it takes to make it work,” the NBA star told TMZ.
But is it the split that’s getting Humphries down, or Kardashian’s plan to deny her ex spousal support?
According to divorce docs filed by Kardashian Monday, the reality starlet asked the court to reject any request by Humphries for spousal support. She also asked that both parties cover their own legal fees.
The couples assets will be divided in accordance with their prenup. According to Us Weekly, the prenup protects all of Kardashian’s assets prior to the marriage (the Kardashians pulled in $65 million last year alone), and she will also keep everything she earned during their short union.
By contrast, Humpries — who is currently unemployed due to the NBA lockout — reportedly makes around $3.2 million a year.
Kardashian has retained celebrity divorce lawyer Laura Wasser, who has represented Britney Spears, Angelina Jolie, and Kiefer Sutherland in their splits, among many others. It’s unclear if Humphries has retained counsel yet, but we wouldn’t be surprised if he opted to be represented by one of these other celebrity divorce lawyers:

A Vigil For Kim & Kris’s Marriage
We’re all struggling to cope with the news of Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries’ divorce in our own ways. Some are less private than others.
Our friends at BuzzFeed decided to take their feelings of loss to the streets outside DASH, the Kardashian helmed boutique clothing shop in SoHo. They had signs, candles, post-it notes of encouragement and even a guy with a guitar. We snapped a few photos while we were there.
So tell us, how are YOU dealing with this tragedy?

Kim’s Fans Hold Vigil At NY Dash Store
Leave it to Kim Kardashian’s hoard of Dash dolls to collectively mourn the dissolution of their queen bee’s marriage with a candlelight vigil. No, we’re not kidding. Fans took to Craigslist to organize a vigil Monday night outside of the Kardashian sisters’ New York clothing store, Dash.
“We’ll be gathering in front of the Dash store in Soho today at 4:15 to hold a vigil for the marriage of Kim Kardashian and Kris Humpreys [sic]. It’s a sad day,” an announcement for the event read.
The gathering was to take place after the news came that Kim and Kris Humphries were divorcing after only 72 days of marriage. Hopefully third time’s a charge. Hang in there, dolls!

Another one bites the dust. Check out all of Kim’s exes below:
