Wrath of Khanna’s Album of the Week: "That’s Not Joel"/"Jimmie’s Still Jimmie" by Shotgun Jimmie & Joel Plaskett!

Another week, another 7″ single! This time it’s an endearing new split by Joel Plaskett and Shotgun Jimmie for the New Scotland Records singles series that has each Maritimer kinda, sorta writing about the other. Y’know something? It might be more accurate to say that they’ve written songs with each other’s name in them and leave it at that. Yes. There, that feels better. Otherwise, these two tunes are just good-humoured, rollicking rockers that showcase Plaskett’s signature chops as a producer. He’s doing great things with people at his Scotland Yard studio, bolstering spirited, slightly askew songs with cool, distinctive flourishes. You’ll hear what I’m talking about pretty soon man.
